Mugzy(Sydney Australia)-Interview

(1) First of all tell as something about yourself
The Names Mugzy im from Sydney Australia
I've been rapping for 11yrs started in 05 when i think i was around 14
Released 2 albums, Radio Play/Magazine Features WORLDWIDE, Over a 12k fanbase WORLDIWDE
Last thing i can say is Hip Hop is my LIFE i live it & breathe it daily

(2) How did you chose your nickname
Well when i was starting off i use to do Gangsta Rap i would write down lyrics about Shootin Guns, Drugs, Gangs all that type of stuff even though it wasnt my life
I think it was because of the early 00s it was such a cool image



Like we had G-Unit who just came out and everyone wanted to be like 50 with rockin the Du-Rag, Baseball Cap, Basketball Jersey the whole lot (Yes i rocked that back in the day i was Wigger-Out)



My first Rap-Name was Ryder-Reyne like my real name is Reyne Brady as in rain but spelt diff (Sounds corny as f***) so yeah i started with that

One Night i was watchin the comedy movie Soul Plane with Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart & Method Man
Method Man's character was a layed back funny/qwerky sorta guy called Muggsy
As i was watchin the movie i thought (wow his character is a lot like me)
When the credits rolled up i checked out the name and thought (hmm instead of spellin it the same how about i use one G and switch the S to a Z so it comes out Mugzy) and it just clicked



Hopefully later on down the road of my career i meet Method Man so i can tell him that story haha



(3) What inspires you to make music
Its a great way to express myself i can let anything out i want to say on the pad

(4) When do you start make rap and when was your first live? Impressions?
I started back in 05 i think i was 14 at the time so yr8 of high school

My first gig was at the end of my school years so yr12 & i was 18 at the time
It was an end of year concert for all the yr12s leaving school and they wanted people to perform so i put my name down



On the day i saw that 200 people rocked up for the event and i was nervous as sh** (because it was my first ever gig)
I performed my track "Keep On Rapping" which was the single on my first album "Ride Or Die" after the performance ended people were screaming ONCORE ONCORE
because NO ONE ever performed hip hop for the school i mean EVER it was mainly Pop or Rock so i was the FIRST

(6) What you do in your freetime?
I love to sleep im a HUGE sleeper haha
Other then music i love to hit up the courts an play ball im pretty nasty at it too Thats for anyone who wants to go toe to toe with me
Also i love drawing my own comic-books in my spare time like Hip Hop Comics

(7) what other music did you listen to?
Besides Hip Hop
it would have to be 70s 80s 90s music like The Rolling Stones, The Doors, KISS, Prince, Eric Clapton, Billy Idol
Oh man the list goes on
 I dont listen to this BS new music though to me i think its WACK
